William Barbosa

Born in 1955 in Ocaña, Colombia, William Barbosa moved to Venezuela in 1975 and, in the mid-1980s, established his studio in San Francisco de Yare, near Caracas. He currently lives and works in Miami, Florida.

A self-taught artist, Barbosa has exhibited individually in various countries throughout Latin America, the United States, Europe, and Asia. He is a member of the MADI Art collective, dedicated to non-representational art with a focus on geometric shapes, vibrant colors, and interaction with the viewer.

His work is part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Geometric and MADI Art in Dallas, Texas. In 2002, the Museo de la Estampa y del Diseño Carlos Cruz-Diez in Caracas presented an exhibition of his series Doors.
